I'll be running two 1,000 watt HPS's (horizontally mounted) in my flower room and I want the best lamp (bulb) money can buy.

Thanks for your advice, all.

I use Hortilux. If there is a better bulb I'd like to know too.

I have seen the new Solar Max 1k's and they are a combination of a 600 HPS and a 400 MH all in one bulb that goes straight into your 1 k HPS ballast. Supposedly they give off a couple more thousand lumens than the EYE Hortilux and are the closest thing yet to natural sunlight indoors. Pricey though at 189$CDN for one bulb. Was thinking of switching when my bulbs need replacing.....anyone using this new type of bulb?

I checked out those bulbs pete, they only have 100,000 lumens, better spectrum, but less lumens, so am unsure of those bulbs

well ive tried a few,...the horti eye's are nice especially if yer goona use yer hps to veg,..the horti got lots of white and blue,...
if you want full on bloom bulb then you will want to lean heavy toward the orange and red colours..i reccomend the plantastar....
if you want something somewhere inbetween the 2 i would check out the sunmaster hps bulb,...thats what im running atm in my flowering room and i like them much better than the horti,...but i think i like the plantastar best of all so far....
i think the next hps bulbs im gonna try are gonna be the 20-30$ specials at home depot,..i got a feeling they are gonna be orange/red heavy...

i have used all different kinds of bulbs and have seen no noticeable difference in growth between them and the cheaper hortilux bulbs :)

I'm using the Sunmaster Super High Output HPS Deluxe bulbs now, 150,000 lumens, 358 par watts. (for rated performance lamp must be partnered with Sunmaster high output ballast)
I'll be buying these next: http://www.britelite.com/Hydroponics/Agrolite.html
60 bux apiece if you buy 6 or more.

I have been am using the same bulb and get great results. However the partnering with the sunmaster ballast is just a sales gimmick to get you to buy their ballast too.

The SunMaster 1kw Ballast is a "overdriven" ballast. To get close to the rated specs on the sunmaster SHO bulbs you need the ballast, It's rated at 1100 watts, 100 more than standard.

Just like the 430 SonAgro, A 430 watt bulb sucks without an actual 430 watt ballast designed for the 430 watt bulb.

I still use them Hashimoto! :D I still love 'em.
